THE PUB: What a story. More stimulus money that went to a company that went bankrupt anyway. Kind of sound like an auto manufacturer that we know?
But this is story gets better. It appears that there is at least a hint that the Obama administration pushing this through for a couple of reasons.
1. To get a “green jobs” company as the front for his stimulus.
2. And to make a major donor of his happy – George Kaiser. Who if I follow correctly also invested in Solyndra.
BUT IT GETS EVEN BETTER!
I know, how can it? Now Obama and the Dem’s are saying it is George W. Bush’s fault. I know. We expect that don’t we. Well how can it be Bush’s fault?
Well, supposedly the loan originated during the Bush administration. I say supposedly because this article says that is not true…that it originiated under Obama’s stimulus.
The news I saw about this on the morning news says that it DID start under Bush, but that 2 weeks before Bush left office, they voted not to move forward on it.
So it doesn’t really matter where it started (unless your a Dem and want to blame Bush….go ahead). What matters is that there seems to be some email trails that suggest the administration was putting a lot of pressure on different people and offices to get this approved.
And that is where the problem comes in.
Countering WaPo’s front page story showing deep and intense White House involvement in rushing through $535 million in taxpayer dollars to the brainchild of major Obama contributor George Kaiser, failed solar panel boondoggle Solyndra, today’s E&E Daily has a story (subscription required) “Democrats launch counteroffensive on Solyndra”. The hand-waiving effort — Schwarzenegger was a fan! A Solyndra exec is a registered Republican! The program Obama abused was originally created by Congress during George W. Bush’s presidency! (untrue, “Sec. 1705″ was a 2009 project in the…stimulus bill…of Henry Waxman (D-CA)) — concludes with the following cry for help, or at least for a good fisking: Other Democratic leaders were quick to pan the RNC’s attempt to make Solyndra the face of the stimulus effort. “Solyndra is unfortunate. Did it not work? It didn’t work apparently. But that’s not the face of the Recovery Act,” said House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) in an interview.
