WordPress MU: Increase Site Admin Or Any Specific Users Upload Limit

Since I am new to WordPress MU that is what I am primarily going to be wwriting about in the near futur probably.

My site Racing News Digest has a lot of pictures associated with the main page. I use NexGen Gallery to manage those photos. Each current driver and track has a photo stored and associated with NexGen Gallery. NexGen Gallery is not important here because it does not matter how you are uploading and maintaining files, it only matters how much space you, or mor importantly, all your users are using.

My Site Admin account is WAY over budget for the 20mb default that I have set as the default for the entire site. So I needed a way to allow my Site Admin as much as…say 100mb, but NOT let others be increased as well.

I found the solution and it is pretty simple. Although I had to search to find it, once I did I kind of hit my forhead and said “DUH!”.

As you probably already know you can set the site wide default for all blogs through Site Admin->Options and look for “Blog upload space”.

But you can also change that on a per user basis if you like. Simply go to Site Admin->Blogs. Click the EDIT link for what ever blog you would like to increase. For me it was just my site admin blog but you may have some users that you want to increase for.

Once you have gone into EDIT on that particular blog you are going to find every setting possible for that blog. There could be a lot to search through depending on how many pluggins you (or they) ahve activated.

For me (and I suspect everyone) the setting is in the right column at the bottom. Your looking for “Blog Upload Space Quota”. Once you have found it, change it to what ever you would like and click “Update Options”.

Thats it!
